“I feel like it’s a consumer protective office,” says PREDENTIVE patient Lindsi S. of Sandy.
“They don’t do anything that is unnecessary,” declares patient Rick R. from East Mill Creek.
Indeed, when I contacted patients of the dental practice operated by Dr. Jeff Burg, DDS., that was the common theme: trust!
“We are new honest in dentistry.”
-Dr. Jeffrey Burg, Owner, PREDENTIVE
“We are new honest in dentistry,” says Dr. Burg. “We are putting the trust back in dentistry.”
So, if you’re looking for a company which focuses on Dental prevention and is more of a hygiene only dental practice, you can turn to a company I trust: PREDENTIVE in Cottonwood Heights. I trust this company because we have done a thorough background investigation into records, licensing, and how they treat their customers. As a result, I’m proud to declare PREDENTIVE GEPHARDT APPROVED.
Dr. Jeffrey Burg has been practicing since 2002, largely in pediatric dentistry. In fact, Dr. Burg has opened 16 offices in Utah known as Burg’s Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics.
He tells me he opened PREDENTIVE when he discovered a huge concern of patients: trust. He says a survey found that 68 per cent of dental patients feel that they question the work that their dentist recommends. “They come into an office for a cleaning, and the dentist says they need 5 or 6 different things, but nothing is even hurting, so what is the deal with that,” says Dr. Burg.
At PREDENTIVE, Dr. Burg says he has set up a huge network of referrals to other dentists, oral surgeons, and orthodontists. He knows another dentist’s specialties, and he knows how they operate their businesses: their pricing and whether or not a dentist tends to be conservative or aggressive in treatment. “If we find a problem and make a referral, there is nothing in it for me: no referral fees, and no financial incentives,” Dr. Burg tells me.
Indeed, that is the same experience the patients at PREDENTIVE told me independently they had when I contacted them:
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s their attitude,” said patient Rick R. “They don’t do anything that could be construed as unnecessary. Besides, Monica is the best dental hygienist I’ve ever had. Very thorough.”
“It is dentistry you can trust…”
-Lindsi S., Patient, PREDENTIVE
“It is dentistry you can trust,” patient Lindsi told me. “We see Dr. Burg, and he saw a problem and he referred us to somebody else. And, he gave us the x-rays to take to the other dentist. It’s dentistry where you don’t feel like you have to push back because you don’t know. They educate you and then you can make the decision.”
Dr. Burg says the whole concept began in an effort to instill trust in patients. It turned into largely a referral business where PREDENTIVE does the preventative dentistry and education, and somebody else does the work. “How can we make it so that people get a fair shake and that they can trust what they’ve been told,” says Dr. Burg. “And really, the way to do that is to remove the motivation for the dentist to build out a crazy treatment plan that might not be necessary, or may be questionable. So the way to do that is to remove the treatment. We’ll do everything that has to be done preventive wise.”
Then, there’s the whole office environment.
“It doesn’t feel like a dental office,” says patient Lindsi. “I love it. Children or adults, it’s a fantastic place to be. In fact, my two daughters literally look forward to it.”
“That’s what we’re trying to do,” says office manager Becca Hutchins. “It doesn’t smell like a dentist office, it doesn’t sound like a dentist office, and it doesn’t look like a dentist office.”
“And it’s all about education and a great experience in preventive dentistry. That includes no waiting!!”
“True,” says patient Lindsi. “I’ve had my 2 daughters and myself in and out for a cleaning in 35 minutes.”
By way of background, Dr. Jeff Burg has opened the PREDENTIVE office after having opened 16 pediatric offices in Utah known as Burg’s Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics. That was only after the 2 years he spent as a resident in pediatric dentistry.
“Dr. Burg has probably saved me 500 to 800 dollars out of pocket by designing alternative strategies to my dental problems,” says patient Rick. As the name implies, the idea is to take care of the teeth and gums. And mine have improved greatly. It’s been very good for me.”
“I love it,” says Lindsi. “I’ve never loved a dentist office in my life, and I enjoy it every time I enter that office. In fact, sometimes when I’m passing by, I stop in just to say hi.”
So there you go: PREDENTIVE. Now you know about our investigation into the company, and now you know the way they treat their patients.
