Rick Warner founded the company back in 1974, when Ford Motors really pushed their auto dealers to have a collision center. “Ford wanted all of their dealers to provide all the services the customer would need, from sales and maintenance, to collision repair,” owner Stan Roberts explains. “They wanted us to be a ‘one stop shop’ for our customers.” Over the years, ownership of the shop changed, and in 1995, Stan Roberts purchased the shop, having worked there from almost the beginning. “This place is like home to me,” he says. In fact, treating their customers like family has always been a top priority at Rick Warner Body Shop. “We have customers that brought their vehicles to us back in the 70’s, then their kids brought cars in as they got older, and now we are seeing grandkids of those original customers,” Stan says, with a smile.
When I asked Stan why these customers were so dedicated to Rick Warner Body Shop, he said, “It’s simple. Our people that work here make the difference.” “Fostering an environment of friendship is the secret,” Stan says. “Once they work here, they never leave, unless they retire!” he laughs. Office manager Greg James tells me they celebrate every birthday and anniversary, hold company barbecues, and the entire shop shows up at every wedding. “It’s important for our employees to be happy, because if they’re happy and satisfied with the work environment. That happiness and satisfaction rubs off on the customer,” he explains. “This is the key to keeping people coming back.”
With 13 technicians, all with over 15 years’ experience, Stan tells me there isn’t much Rick Warner Body Shop hasn’t been able to handle over the years. “As long as we can warranty it, we’ll do it,” he says. “From all makes and models of cars, delivery trucks, to even repairing and painting bobsleds and helmets for Olympic national teams.” “We had one team that shipped us their sled from Italy for repairs and paint because they knew we could do it for them,” he says, “and then we shipped it to Canada in time for them to compete in the Vancouver Olympics.”
The principles of complete customer satisfaction that Rick Warner Body Shop was founded on are still the same today, Stan says. “We provide 24 hour towing services, work with all insurance companies, detail every car we repair, and can even drop the vehicle off if the customer can’t pick it up,” he tells me. “We want to make sure things are done right the first time”
