If you’re looking for a pediatric dental office, let me introduce you to a company I trust: Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics. We investigated Dr. Mark Nelson and Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics. We checked out their history, licensing, and the way they treat their clients. As a result, I trust and endorse Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics and I am proud to declare them Gephardt Approved.
“Our goal is for kids to have fun at the dentist.”
– Kate Hawkes, Office Manager, Children’s Dentistry
Kate Hawkes should know what it feels like to be a kid at Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics. After all, she is Dr. Nelson’s daughter and basically grew up in the office. Now working as Office Manager, Kate tells me they have the best client base around. “We love working with kids,” says Kate. “Our goal is for kids to have fun at the dentist.”
“We like to reward kids for being good patients,” says Kate. “At the same time, we help them have a better understanding of the importance of dental health. If a patient has a problem, we never make them feel like it’s a punishment. We just take care of it. We want our clients to be happy and confident in their smile.”
“My kids actually like to go to the dentist.”
– Nora Booher, client
Nora Booher is so happy with the service she gets at Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics, she tells us she drives over an hour and a half to get there. “We started going to Dr. Nelson when we lived in Bountiful,” says Nora. “When we moved, we didn’t change dentists. I have six kids and I love the way they accommodate my needs. When it’s time to go to the dentist, I take everyone in
and we’re done in hour, unless one of my kids has a cavity, then it takes longer. But Dr. Nelson always fits me in so I don’t have to come back for another appointment. My kids actually like to go to the dentist. It’s not such a crazy thing.”
Our research found that Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics opened for business in 1984. “My dad [Dr. Nelson] knew from an early age that he wanted to be a dentist,” says Kate. “He loves kids and wanted to have his own business. When he was admitted to dental school, he decided to focus on a pediatric dual residency. That means he is a pediatric dentist and he is also trained in pediatric orthodontics.”
Kate tells us they provide specialized dentistry for children, adolescents, and special needs individuals of any age in a child friendly environment. When I visited their office, I also noticed there were adults who were patients. Guess what, they were once patients of Dr. Nelson as children and now they are seeing him as an adult. I was impressed that this company was not like an ordinary dentist’s office. Instead, it looked like a child’s wonderland.
“I would recommend them to anyone.”
– Donna Winkler, client
“I can’t imagine going anywhere else,” says Donna Winkler. “I’ve been going to them since my kids were toddlers. They know how to work with kids and help them relax if they have cavities. My kids love to go to the dentist. Now they both have braces. If one of my kids has an appointment with Dr. Nelson, the other one always wants to go. They get so excited. If they need to get their braces tightened, they love to pick out new bands. I would recommend them to anyone.”
Here’s something else: Have you ever heard of a dentist who has a big party for all patients every year? This year Dr. Nelson and his staff are planning a Luau at Foxboro Splash Pad, in North Salt Lake, Utah for their clients and their families.
“We like to give back as much as we can,” says Kate. “We’ve been in practice so long we have people who went to Dr. Nelson as kids who now take their kids to him.”
So there you go: Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics: Now you know what our investigation revealed about this company’s history and their commitment to their patients. And now you know why I trust Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics, and why I am proud to declare them Gephardt Approved.
